French? Quebec?: Il existe une version Français distincte pour le Québec. There is a separate French-language version for Québec.
Currently we, Canadian voters, have elections that are not fully democratic because our ballots are counted in a way that is vulnerable to “vote splitting.” This weakness enables a smaller number of voters to concentrate their votes on a single candidate who wins the election, even though a larger number of voters split their votes between two or more similar opposition candidates who all get defeated.
Here, in these anti-vote-splitting polls, you fill out a ranked (“1-2-3”) ballot rather than marking just a single candidate as your “favourite.”
The “pairwise counting” done here looks deeper into voter preferences and better identifies which candidate, or which top-two candidates, are really most popular, and which candidates are really least popular.
As more Canadian voters participate in this poll, the more accurate the results become, so please tell your friends and neighbors about this poll so they can spread the word.
Please come back to view the results just before election day so that you can more wisely mark your official ballot in a way that defeats unfair vote splitting.
At the top of this list are the ridings in which vote splitting can most easily cause the most popular candidate to lose. Also at the top are the ridings with the most polling votes.
If you live in a riding where vote splitting can cause the wrong candidate to win, please cast your official election ballot for one of the two most popular candidates. If instead you cast your official ballot for a third-most-popular or fourth-most-popular candidate, then you are making it easier for your most-disliked candidate to win.
